VitalBerry BV has an arrangement with the Edward Vinson Strawberry Breeding Programme. For raspberry varietal development BerryWorld Plus was established with the Hall Hunter Partnership, Edward Vinson Ltd, and breeder Harry Schwartz.
About Plant breeding
Plant breeding is the sexual cross between two genetically different parent plants, resulting in a wholly new genetically individual daughter plant.
VitalBerry BV growers are also involved in propagating strawberry & raspberry plants for use in following years. Propagation involves taking 'runners' from the strawberry plant, or side shoots from the raspberry plant, and growing them in pots. This is known as asexual reproduction, and the daughter plants are genetically identical.
