About our Berries
VitalBerry BV supplies strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries as well as the more niche berry lines such as gooseberries, redcurrants, strasberries & pineberries.
In addition to Dutch grown berries, VitalBerry BV also source a wide range of soft fruit from across the globe to supply European markets.
Dutch berries account for a large percentage of the total volume of soft fruit bought by consumers each year. The climate in Holland is ideal for growing good quality berries and through modern production systems and varietal development our Dutch growers are able to supply from March through to December. The environment
VitalBerry BV and its suppliers from around the world have a duty to ensure that our operations do not adversely affect the environment.
To this end VitalBerry BV's growers and suppliers from around the world are aware of the need to minimise their impact on their local environment and enhance wildlife provision wherever possible.
To achieve this, our growers and suppliers employ a number of techniques including the use of independent studies and advisors in order to give them the best platform from which to grow their businesses in an environmentally sustainable way.
Ethical Trading
VitalBerry BV is a strong supporter of ethical trading practices and we positively encourage our growers, suppliers and packers to implement these practices in their own businesses. All products are grown to the high standard Eurep Gap Certification.
All our berries have full tractability, allowing product to be traked right through supply chain back to field.
VitalBerry BV are members of the SEDEX (Social and Ethical Data Exchange) internet based information system. This facility allows suppliers and packers to enter information about their working practices which can be viewed by VitalBerry BV and its customers. Supply Chain
For our customers to enjoy the continual health benefits of eating soft fruit, it needs to be affordable, which is where supply chain comes in. The supply chain starts at the very beginning, at the farm and ends when our customers receive the berries. Supply chain concerns all the factors that affect the fruit getting to its final destination.
VitalBerry BV are continually looking at various ways of making our supply chain more efficient, cost effective and more environmentally friendly.
Packaging is an area of focus for VitalBerry BV. We believe that by reducing the amount of packaging used throughout the supply chain, will not only be more cost effective, but also reduces packaging waste, helping our environment.
BerryWorld Plus
The initial aim of the BerryWorld Plus breeding programme was to seek an improved primocane fruiting raspberry specifically looking for early cropping.
Edward Vinson Breeding
VitalBerry BV has an arrangement with the Edward Vinson Strawberry Breeding Programme. For raspberry varietal development BerryWorld Plus was established with the Hall Hunter Partnership, Edward Vinson Ltd, and breeder Harry Schwartz.
